Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (RSAS)
Founded in 1739, the Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden now has 164 members under 65 and around 200 members aged 65 and older. The first of these numbers is fixed only when a member is 65 years that a new member can be elected. The academy also has 164 foreign members to whom the rules on age do not apply. The members are conducting research in mathematics, astronomy and space sciences, physics, chemistry, geosciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, engineering sciences, economic sciences and humanities, sciences and other humanists. The Academy awards prizes for outstanding scientific achievements, the most famous are the Nobel Prize in physics, chemistry, and the economics prize in memory of Alfred Nobel.
