Sweden:The government wants to eradicate hooliganism

The Government of Sweden wants to eradicate hooliganism in sport in general and football in particular, write the Ministers of Justice and Sports, Beatrice Ask, Lena Adelsohn, in an article published Saturday by the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter.
The government will appoint a special rapporteur who will make a series of proposals in 2008. Among them, should include the authorization given to police and prosecutors to ban the stadium troublemakers on their own initiative, write the two ministers.
According to Swedish law in force, disrupters can not be banned from access to stadiums that if the club so requests. Ask Mrs. Adelsohn pronent and also greater severity on the part of clubs, strengthening controls at the entrances to stadiums, and “examine the possibility (for clubs) to claim compensation to persons whose actions are detrimental to the organizers” .
