By eating a diet rich in antioxidants may be the body’s defense against
oxidative stress, improve and increase resistance to many diseases. But the
effect is different on different people, and defense mechanisms very complex. It
shows Ceclilia Nalsen in his thesis at Uppsala University, which she defends
April 26.
A large number of diseases such as cardiovascular disease and certain cancers,
is linked to an impaired antioxidant defense in the body. Studies have shown
that people who eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, which are naturally rich in
several types of antioxidants, more rarely become sick.
