Scientists have succeeded in sequencing the genome of the domestic cat, seventh mammals including humans which all genes have been identified thus far, opening a potential new medical research for humans and cats.
This work published Wednesday in the journal Genome Research, was conducted by American scientists on the DNA of a cat Abyssinian four years called Cinnamon (cinnamon), whose lineage goes back several generations in Sweden. Cinnamon is a mammal currently subject of a comparative analysis with other genetic research already conducted on cats as well as sequencing genomes of other mammals.
