Social work as a research discipline includes the study of
social problems and their causes and consequences for individuals , groups and
society . It also analyzes the social interventions designed to manage or solve
social problems .

The department’s research covers a wide area , but the
emphasis is on the social organization of work , the treatment of addiction,social
work with children and young people and with older people . Information on
projects , workshops, seminars and individual researchers can be found here , as
well as present public lectures and other events .
