The Swedes fear of being imposed to speak English
So far, Sweden has no official language. The government wants to put an end to this situation and legislate to make the main Swedish language. The newspaper welcomes this initiative. “The status of the Swedish language is not as obvious as in the past. In some circles, particularly among people with a high level of technical training, medical and scientific, Swedish has been virtually replaced by English. This is called a loss domain. Johanna Westman reacts to the debate on the bill language in Sweden, which would protect the face Swedish to English. “The languages are changing. It is a fact that is not necessarily negative. The Swedish-Finnish [the Swedish-Finnish language] is constantly subjected to the influence Finnish. Yet, the Finns who speak Swedish often receive compliments to Sweden for their mastery of language. This is due to the highly developed language awareness of Finnish. This could come of bilingualism in which we operate each day.
