Two Swedes suspected sabotage arrested
Explosive easy to fabricate
The triperoxyde of tricycloacétone is more powerful than dynamite but was not on the list of banned products of the Agency for Swedish rescue services. It is very unstable and reacts in particular to heat and shock.
It can be produced relatively easily with chemicals to a free trade and has been used by suicide bombers in Israel and by Richard Reid, a British controlled on a flight between Paris and Miami-carrying soles stuffed with explosives.
The two men were not considered suspects initially by the police.
“They have only been interviewed to gather information,” said Karlsson, who was unable to specify the age and nationality of the two individuals arrested.
A security perimeter was established in the central and police has appealed to experts in explosives.A bag with traces of explosive
In a statement posted on its website, the central Oskarshamn, owned by German group E. ON and Fortum of Finland, said that the security of its nuclear reactor had probably not been threatened.
“What happened is that a man this morning passed the security check with a bag on which, or in which there were traces of explosives,” said a spokesman of the German electricity company E.ON.
Karlsson said that to his knowledge no incidents had been reported in other plants.
Oskarshamn is one of three Swedish nuclear power plants, which supply the country half of its electricity.
